On September 15, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) published updates to its ADA regulations and adopted new design standards based on guidelines previously issued by the Access Board. The new 2010 Standards for Accessibility (which  are closley based upon the ADA / ABA Accessibility Guidelines – July 23, 2004) was adopted by DOJ to replace the “Old ADAAG” technical standards dated July 1, 1994.  The 2010 ADA Standards also include supplementary design requirments, and the Standards become manadatory 3/15/12. Contact us for more information on how it will affect your public accommodation and public sector projects, including the alternate "safe harbors" for interim compliance. E&A has already updated our Survey Solutions Software for the new standards - we are ready to survey your facilities.

Survey Solutions Software

E&A developed custom database software (in its 5th generation) to make our Surveys better and more cost effective for our clients. Our ADA Survey Reports have written solutions and budget costs for each item. Data is also available to our clients in electronic database formats. We can also manage the entire implementation and tracking of your barrier removal project using our database software.

Our ADA Survey Reports have written solutions that are considered sufficiently complete, that with provision of some design standards and good Project Management they can often be the scope for a contractor’s bid. (Some more complex solutions and public sector projects will require design and construction documents, which we can provide.) Our surveys are performed by Architects who know buildings and accessibility standards.

A Quality ADA Accessibility Survey should include:

  • ADA Overview / Executive Summary explaining ADA requirements and your Survey.
  • General Priority per the Preamble to the ADA
  • Barrier, Location and ADAAG/ Code Citation.
  • Photos of typical or unique barrier (color copies).
  • Recommended Solution
  • Key Plan drawing as appropriate
  • Clarification Codes and Comments for each Recommendation.
  • Written Facility Summaries.
  • Budget Cost per item.
  • Capability for ongoing database management
